This was my first visit to Avalen Farm and I fell in love with this wonderfully rustic Cornish wedding venue straight away. The venue consists of a courtyard of beautifully restored barns set in rolling Cornish countryside, it all feels incredibly spacious and secluded and is the perfect place to host a relaxed wedding in Cornwall.
What I loved most about Emma and Josh’s wedding was that it had such a personal touch. The couple took great care to support the businesses of friends and family wherever possible, as well as getting hands on with much of the decor: The stunning dried flower bouquets and table displays were the handiwork of the talented bride herself (along with maid of honour and right-hand lady, Laura, who’s help with everything in the run up to the big day was very much appreciated by Emma)
The ceremony time was quite early in the day, which can sometimes mean a bit of a lull in the afternoon ahead of the evening celebrations, however, Emma and Josh did a fantastic job of ensuring their guests were kept well entertained. As well as providing traditional lawn games and arranging a fabulous local musician they had also thought outside the box and arranged for a caricaturist and a rodeo bull to arrive in the afternoon!
This really allowed me to maximise my time as a wedding photographer: Capturing the reactions as people saw Cassie’s brilliant drawings and documenting the many hilarious tumbles from the bucking bronco was quite honestly a wedding photographer’s dream!
I laughed so hard and had the best time at this fun-filled wedding and could see that Emma and Joshs’s family and friends did too.
