BlogEmma + DamienRose in Vale Hotel - St. Agnes - Cornwall

I cannot believe how long it has been since I blogged a wedding and taking some time to go through the pictures from Emma and Damien’s special day way back in March has been so lovely! When wedding season hits us Wedding Photographers don’t get much time for reflection, so it really is nice to go back through forgotten moments and relive the day.

And what a special day this was! Emma and Damien were such a lovely couple to spend time with, their family and friends were equally warm and fun, and the venues they had chosen were just perfect. I have been a wedding photographer in Cornwall for many moons now but this was my first Rose in Vale wedding and also my first wedding at Gwennap Church! The church is a real hidden gem, tucked away and tranquil with a very cool tunnel of trees, perfect for photographs. We ended up staying at the church a little longer than anticipated when the beautiful classic car that was supposed to be taking the happy couple to their Rose in Vale reception refused to start and no amount of pushing could persuade the old girl otherwise! I often hold Emma and Damien up as a shining example of how being a relaxed bride and groom really can save the day – rather than getting stressed out about the car troubles these guys stayed calm and smiley, taking advantage of the extra time to mingle with guests in the sunshine outside of the church. We also decided to get the group shots done there rather than at the Rose-in-Vale, as originally planned, to make the best use of the time. It is so important to go with the flow of the day and not to let small hitches turn into big problems – these unexpected events are all part of the story of your wedding. (Emma and Damien also happened to have a guest with a Rolls, so they still travelled in style to their reception!)

The Rose in Vale is such a pretty venue: a secluded Georgian country manor nestled in gorgeous gardens in a valley near to Perranporth. It feels at once luxurious and relaxed and the grounds are a wedding photographers dream! Even though we were running a little late, we managed a short walk around for some photos before dinner was served in the sun-filled dining room, speeches were done and the spectacular cake, created by groom / pastry-chef, Damien, was cut.

I would like to thank Emma and Damien for asking me to be their wedding photographer – I loved spending time with you and it was an honour to capture your day.
