Any wedding where we get to have a stroll on not one, but two, stunning beaches is always going to be a winner in my eyes and Sarah & Jonathan’s October celebration was quite simply glorious. The couple had chosen a special date for their wedding – they had their first date on 9th October and it was also the date that they got engaged.
The ceremony took place in a St Michael’s Church in Porthilly, which I had never heard of before, but it has got to be one of the most beautiful little churches in Cornwall with spectacular views over the estuary. The groom’s mother is a Reverend there and conducted the ceremony which made it even more special and personal (although it turns out that waiting for the bride’s arrival is even more tense than usual when you’re doing it alongside her future Mother-in-Law!).
After the ceremony and some intense confetti (I think poor Sarah must have been finding it in her hair for some days afterwards!) we took some family pictures and then had a walk on the beach whilst the guests enjoyed some fizz on the lawn. It was such a warm and sunny day I don’t think anyone was in a hurry to leave such a beautiful spot but thankfully the reception venue was equally gorgeous and it was soon time to head to The Waterfront in Polzeath to enjoy dinner, hilarious speeches (I particularly loved hearing that the couple had a gift list comprising mainly of fencing and gravel!) and yet more sunshine and spectacular views.
This was such a relaxed and beautiful day with a really special couple. Thank you so much for asking me to be a part of it Sarah and Jonathan!
