This wedding has to be one of my all time favourites. It took place back in May and has taken me so long to blog it because there was just so much I loved about it and I wanted to do it justice!
I began the day with beautiful bride-to-be Maddy, to capture some bridal prep shots before heading over to Bodmin Registry office for the first of the couple’s two wedding ceremonies. Maddy walked up the aisle with not one but two incredibly teary eyed dads – her Father and her Step-Father. Both men were fit to burst with pride and the look on groom Alistair’s face when he clapped eyes on his bride was priceless – Maddy really did look an absolute dream (and any bride who walks up the aisle to Fleetwood Mac is a winner in my eyes).
It was then back to the marquee reception in Maddy’s Mum and Step-Dad’s insanely idyllic garden where the couple’s good friend conducted a beautiful handfasting ceremony on the lawn. This time it was the mums’ turn to take centre stage, providing the ribbons for the couples’ hands to be bound. I loved the heavy emphasis on family in this wedding. We managed some confetti on the lawn before the heavens opened and guests were able to take refuge in the stunningly decorated marquee. The caterers did an absolutely amazing job of pulling together a barbecue feast despite the pouring rain!
After dinner it was straight into some of the most emotional and hilarious speeches I have ever witnessed – a particular highlight being when the groom’s father managed to convince everyone that he had had a surprise tattoo in the couple’s honour (Alistair is a tattoo artist) before revealing an impressive but fake sleeve!
There was no cake cutting because the couple had opted for a tower of Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead (how cool is that?!) but they did carve the first slice of the evening hog roast! The rain had stopped at this point and the garden had been lit up colourfully and spectacularly providing a perfect backdrop for a night of live music and dancing.
This wedding just had it all for me, and is one I will never forget. Congratulations and thank you so much Maddy & Ali!
